Second Housekeeper Arrested In Bay Colony Theft

Collier County sheriff’s deputies arrested a former housekeeper Monday in connection with the theft of more than $100,000 worth of jewelry and credit cards from her employer.

Ramona M. Sax, 42, of Bonita Springs was charged with grand theft over $100,000 and illegal use of credit cards.

Sax is the second person arrested in connection with this crime. On Friday deputies arrested Sandra Catherine Lorch, 31, also of Bonita Springs, and charged her with grand theft over $100,000 and illegal use of credit cards.

Reports say that Sherrie Brooks told deputies that on Feb. 19 she opened a safe in her home on Bay Colony Drive in North Naples and discovered several pieces of jewelry missing, including a diamond tennis bracelet, a pair of diamond earrings and a diamond ring.

Brooks told deputies that she was in the process of moving and had friends as well as Sax and Lorch, who she hired to clean her house, help pack her belongings. Brooks said she left Sax and Lorch alone in her residence several times and that Sax stayed overnight while she was gone.

On March 4 Brooks reported that she had discovered some of her credit cards were missing.

Further investigation by deputies revealed that Sax and Lorch attempted to use Brooks’ credit cards on five separate occasions on Feb. 15 to purchase nearly $1,000 worth of merchandise and gift cards from the Target Supercenter and Wal-Mart, both in North Naples. Most of the transactions were declined.
