2 Charged In North Naples Break-Ins

An attempt by two teenagers to use a stolen credit card at an electronics store helped deputies connect the pair to a daylong series of vehicle and residential burglaries in North Naples on Wednesday.

Investigators say Keegan Jerome Leon, 17, 6635 Yarberry Lane, North Naples, and Darrick John Settles, 16, 230 Leewood Circle, East Naples, broke into multiple vehicles and a residence in the Bermuda Isles and Village Walk communities between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m., according to sheriff’s reports.

Leon and Settles stole iPods, cameras, garage door remotes, a fishing pole, motorcycle helmet, and a wallet containing credit cards, among other items, investigators said.

They also stole 1994 Honda motorcycle from inside an attached garage, investigators said.

They were arrested after they tried to use one of the stolen credit cards at Best Buy, 6325 Naples Blvd., North Naples, and a clerk found it to be a fraudulent transaction and alerted deputies.

Deputies located the stolen motorcycle parked outside the store, reports said.

Further investigation by deputies found that Leon and Settles also used the stolen credit card to make fraudulent transactions at Chick-Fil-A restaurant and Kohl’s department store, reports said.

Leon and Setttles matched the description given to deputies by witnesses who saw them breaking into one of the vehicles and then running away.

Deputies arrested Leon and Settles and charged them with multiple felonies, including burglary, grand theft, grand theft auto and fraudulent use of a credit card.
