ARRESTED: Manuel De Jesus Torres, 35, 265 W. 45th Ave. N., Miami.
CHARGES: Trafficking in marijuana over 25 pounds and possession of narcotic paraphernaliao
SUMMARY: Deputies executed a search warrant at this residence around 6 p.m. and uncovered 162 marijuana plants with an estimated street value of $486,000.
All of the rooms inside the residence were being used to grow marijuana, investigators said. De Jesus Torres, who was inside the residence during the search, was using a mattress in the kitchen to sleep on, investigators said.
The search also turned up equipment used to grow marijuana such as light bulbs, additional cooling systems, transformers, buckets and fertilizer. The electricity had been diverted.
The grow equipment was valued at $15,000.
The marijuana weighed more than 200 pounds.
