Man Arrested In 2007 Home-Invasion Robbery

Deputies arrested a Miami man Thursday in connection with a home-invasion robbery in Golden Gate in 2007.

Hector Hernandez, 26, was arrested on warrants charging him with home-invasion robbery with a firearm and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

Hernandez is charged in connection with a home-invasion robbery at 5991 Dogwood Way on May 20, 2007, according to sheriff’s reports.

Eliodoro Santos- Chavez, 5991 Dogwood Way, told deputies he heard a loud bang at the front door to his guest house during the early morning hours. When he opened his bedroom door to check it out he was confronted by Hernandez and an unidentified man, reports said.

Hernandez hit Santos-Chavez, 62, with the end of a rifle, causing Santos-Chavez to fall to the floor, reports said.

Hernandez then grabbed Santos-Chavez’s wallet from the nightstand. Both suspects ran out of the room followed by Santos-Chavez, who chased after them with a machete, reports said.

Hernandez and the other suspect fled in an unknown vehicle, reports said.

Deputies served Hernandez with the warrants at the Collier County jail on Thursday, reports said.
