Man Charged With Having Child Pornography

A Golden Gate man was arrested Thursday on multiple felony charges in connection with a CCSO investigation into child pornography trafficking on the Internet.

Jose L. Aguiar, 23, 2100 51st Terrace S.W., was charged with 23 counts of possession of obscene material depicting sexual performance by a child.

Aguiar was arrested following a CCSO investigation that began earlier this month into the use of peer-to-peer software on the Internet to traffic in child pornography, according to arrest reports.

A detective in the Special Crimes Bureau used peer-to-peer software to locate computers sharing images of child pornography. The investigation revealed that there were child pornography files on Aguiar’s computer.

The files were videos showing children ages 5 to 14 engaged in sex acts with adults, reports said.

Deputies executed a search warrant at Aguiar’s residence Thursday morning and located his computer in a room in the front of the home. A forensic analysis of the computer will be conducted.

Aguiar was being booked into the Collier County jail Thursday afternoon.

His mug shot will be posted when it is available.
