Man Charged With Operating Grow House

WHAT: Marijuana grow house arrest

WHEN: Thursday, June 4, 2009

LOCATION: 2230 10th Ave. N.E., Golden Gate Estates

ARRESTED: Yoany Reyes Moreira, 24

CHARGES: Trafficking in marijuana over 25 pounds and possession of narcotic paraphernalia

SUMMARY: Deputies discovered an indoor marijuana grow operation in the garage after they executed a search warrant at this residence, sheriff’s reports said.

Reyes Moreira, who lives at the residence, was home at the time of the search, reports said.

Reports said the garage had been converted into a grow room that contained electrical transformers, high-intensity lights, mylar, buckets, an irrigation system and an additional cooling unit. There was also a separate breaker panel that controlled the electricity, which was being diverted.

The search also turned up 44 marijuana plants, including a large marijuana plant that was found in a separate room inside the house, reports said.

The marijuana weighed 33.93 pounds and had an estimated street value of $132,000, reports said.

Reyes Moreira was being booked into the Collier County jail Thursday afternoon.
