Deputies To Conduct DUI Checkpoint

The Collier County Sheriff’s Office, Naples Police Department and Marco Island Police Department will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint during the week targeting drivers who choose to drive after consuming alcohol or drugs.

This checkpoint is part of a continuing series of static sobriety checkpoints and roving operations planned as a part of the current CCSO Community Safety Plan and a one-year Florida Department of Transportation grant.

While most impaired driving occurs during the busy weekend nights, impaired drivers also endanger themselves and other motorists on our roadways throughout the week. In 2008, Collier County had the lowest crash rate for any Florida county with a population over 200,000 and the seventh lowest fatality rate statewide.

To help maintain this outstanding record of safety, CCSO’s Safety and Traffic Enforcement Bureau reminds drivers to plan for a safe ride home before heading out for the evening or to call a friend or take a taxi.
