CCSO Investigator Earns Public Service Award

The Greater Naples Chamber of Commerce honored Collier County Sheriff’s Office Cpl. Scott Rapisarda during its seventh annual Distinguished Public Service Awards ceremony Wednesday morning at The Naples Hilton in North Naples.

The Distinguished Public Service Award is given annually to recognize and publicly thank emergency service personnel for their extraordinary efforts in keeping Collier residents safe.

Cpl. Rapisarda was recognized for his investigative work on cases involving sex crimes committed against children. His proactive efforts help keep Collier County a safe place for our youth. In January, one of his investigations led to the arrest of an East Naples man on 500 counts of child pornography. To date, this investigation represents the highest number of initial child pornography charges ever brought by the CCSO against one person.

Cpl Rapisarda also assists the Florida Attorney General’s Office Child Predator Task Force, Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Innocent Images National Initiative.

Fire Marshal Todd Olson of the Big Corkscrew Island Fire Control and Rescue District, and Mindy Weissmann and Jennifer Havens, both of Collier County Emergency Medical Services, were also presented with the award for their dedication to public service.
