CCSO Asks For Public’s Help In Hit-And-Run Investigation

Deputies are asking for help from the public in locating the driver of a vehicle that hit a 21-year-old Golden Gate man early Sunday morning.

Reports say the vehicle left the scene of the accident, which occurred on Oakes Boulevard around 5:03 a.m.

Deputies gave this account:

Two witnesses were driving northbound on Oakes Boulevard approaching Standing Oaks Lane when they noticed Kenneth Andrew Slusser lying on the roadway. They swerved around Slusser and began to pull over to the side of the road when they heard a vehicle traveling behind them run over Slusser.

The driver of the vehicle did not stop, continued north and made a right turn onto Immokalee Road. The witnesses notified CCSO and Slusser was flown by helicopter to Lee Memorial Hospital in Fort Myers.

Slusser remains in critical condition as a result of his injuries.

The vehicle is described as a small, dark colored pickup. The body possibly resembled a Chevrolet S-10 and had two doors.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Collier County Sheriff’s Office at 252-9300.
