The Collier County Sheriff’s Office will be conducting free CarFit checkups for senior citizens at Golden Gate Community Center, 4701 Golden Gate Parkway, Golden Gate from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25.
CarFit is national program developed by AAA, AARP and the American Occupational Therapy Association and is designed to give a quick, yet comprehensive check on how well an older driver and their vehicle work together.
CCSO representatives will complete a 12-point checklist with each driver. Some of these items include: determining the correct position of the driver’s seat, the driver’s ability to easily reach pedals and proper adjustment of mirrors.
Each checkup takes approximately 20 minutes.
