A 23-year-old man was arrested Sunday after deputies say he stole a woman’s van and then drove the van past deputies while they searched for him.
Brian Arthur Carr, 1070 Limpkin Road, Golden Gate Estates, was charged with grand theft auto and driving on a suspended license-third or subsequent conviction.
Arrest reports say a woman told deputies that Carr stole her 2000 Pontiac white van without her permission from the parking lot at the Red Roof Inn, 1925 Davis Blvd., East Naples.
Deputies went to Carr’s residence around 2:30 p.m. His stepfather opened the door and inside deputies saw in plain view a 42 inch plasma television, a Dell laptop computer, a Sony PlayStation system and other items that had been reported stolen earlier between Friday and Sunday from a residence in the 3000 block of Eighth Avenue Southeast in Golden Gate Estates, arrest reports said.
While deputies were at his residence Carr drove by them in the stolen van, reports said. Deputies conducted a traffic stop on the van and Carr was arrested.
Inside the van deputies found more property reported stolen from the residence on Eighth Avenue Southeast, including coins and jewelry, reports said.
Carr was additionally charged with grand theft in connection with the burglary, reports said.
