Collier Students “Get Game” During Holiday Break

Some Collier students are willingly going to school to partake in a little friendly competition over the holiday break.

More than 30 Golden Gate Middle School students are participating in the Holiday Sports Camp sponsored by the Collier County Sheriff’s Office. The camp is taking place throughout the two-week school break to help keep the kids active and enhance their agility while providing them the opportunity to play basketball, soccer and football.

At the high school level, more than 100 students are meeting up at Gulf Coast High School for a three-day flag football competition. Teams from various high schools are competing against one another while receiving assistance and guidance from CCSO members. Friends and family members are showing their support by watching from the bleachers while listening to an announcer provide a play-by-play narrative during each game.

Both sporting events kicked off Monday morning.
