Immokalee Kids Learn Bike Safety

Kids in Immokalee got hands-on lessons in bicycle safety from the Collier County Sheriff's Office on Saturday.

The bike safety rodeo drew 25 youngsters to South Immokalee Park, where deputies taught participants how to properly fit a helmet and obey all traffic signs. The children learned to ride bike safely by testing their skills on an obstacle course.

Representatives from Bikes For Tykes Inc. were on-hand to help repair bikes. The Naples-based charity donated 13 bikes.

Participants also enjoyed having their faces painted courtesy of the East Naples Kiwanis group. Collier County Parks and Recreation provided hot dogs and drinks.
