Online Predator Sting Leads to Arrest

DATE: November 2007

LOCATION: Boynton Beach and Naples

ARRESTED: William Richard Kilgus III, 23, of 2053 17th St. S.W.

CHARGES: Using a computer to solicit a child and having pornographic material on a computer

A Golden Gate Estates man was arrested and charged with trying to have sexual relationships with young girls in the Pompano Beach and Naples areas, deputies say.

Here are the details:

The Internet Crimes Against Children task force was conducting an online sting to identify online sexual predators in the Boynton Beach area between Nov. 7 and Nov. 9, 2007.

A detective pretending to be a 15-year-old girl from Pompano Beach began chatting with Kilgus. Kilgus made plans to meet her in Collier County for sex on Nov. 9, but backed out last minute saying he was going to an Everblades hockey game with his parents instead.

A CCSO investigator then began to chat with Kilgus as a 14-year-old girl who lived in Naples. Kilgus was aware of her age, but made arrangements to meet her for sex at a home on Brantley Boulevard.

Deputies arrested Kilgus when he arrived at the agreed meeting place Wednesday afternoon.
