Chase Leads To Armed Robbery Arrest

Deputies pursued two men to Immokalee after they robbed a man at gunpoint in North Naples on Saturday afternoon.

Investigators say that Brian Auplant, 19, of 609 Sixth Ave., Immokalee, and Clifford Pray, 21, of Labelle, drove their black Ford sports utility vehicle up to Francois Belford, who was getting into his car at a friend's house on Ridge Drive in North Naples.

The two men lured Belford over to the SUV by asking him for a drink of water. The two men pulled Belford into the SUV at gunpoint and took his watch, his necklace and $117 cash.

After robbing Belford, Auplant stuck him in the head with the gun and fled.

Deputies located the SUV in Immokalee and pursued the men until they crashed into a fence on Palm Ridge Drive and ran away on foot.

Pray kicked open a door of a home on the 600 block of Hope trying to hide from deputies. He was found inside a bedroom.

Auplant and Pray were arrested and charged with armed robbery, grand theft and fleeing and eluding deputies.

Pray was also charged with burglary of an occupied dwelling.
