December Winners for “Do the Right Thing Award”

Undersheriff Kevin Rambosk awarded nine Collier County students for performing a good deed within their school, community or family, exhibiting exemplary behavior or performing acts of heroism.

Jasmine Conner, third grade, Poinciana Elementary School (Overall Winner)
Jasmine helped save her cousin’s life while on a summer trip to Georgia. Her cousin fell into a lake and Jasmine jumped into the water to prevent her cousin from drowning.

Hector Olvera, 12th grade, Gulf Coast High School
Hector saw that one of his classmates had cuts and scratches all over his arms. Fearing that the student needed serious helped, he reported it to the guidance counselor.

Anthony Bocato, sixth grade, Corkscrew Middle School
Anthony found pepper spray while riding his bicycle to school. His friends tried to convince Anthony to play with the pepper spray, but he did the right thing by immediately turning it in to an adult.

Davan Connolly,4, East Naples Methodist Learning Center
Davan proves that even the youngest of children can do the right thing. Even though she is only 4 years old, Davan knew to ask a neighbor for help when her insulin-dependent grandmother passed out while babysitting her.

Madga Ortiz, sixth grade, East Naples Middle School
Magda has a five-year-old brother with autism. She is always there to help him and spend lots of time with him. She goes out of her way to play with him, go to the doctor and help him with his school work.

Lauren Vath, fourth grade, Pelican Marsh Elementary
Lauren has achieved a great level of communication with her peers and adults at her school. She is always available to help other students when something unpleasant happens.

David Mato, sixth grade, Naples Christian Academy
David saved his father’s life in October. He tried to wake up his dad, but he would not get up. David knew he had to call 911. EMS was dispatched and the dad was taken to the hospital.

Deandre Woods and Jaylyn Zakikhani, fifth grade, Vineyards Elementary School
These two boys found some drugs in the school courtyard and immediately contacted the school deputy.
