Fingerprint Leads Deputies to Carjacker

An East Naples man was arrested and charged after attacking a woman and stealing her car in October, deputies say.

Norma Baez told deputies that she and her husband were returning home after finishing her newspaper delivery route around 4:20 a.m. on Oct. 16.

Baez’s husband Damian, who was driving the car, left to go inside their apartment in the 1700 block of Wellesley Circle, leaving her inside with the engine running, according to reports.

Baez told deputies that she got out of the car, went around to the driver’s side door when she was attacked by two men.

The men pulled her from the car, got inside and sped off.

Investigators received information that Scott Michael Secchiaroli, 25, 5736 Woodmere Lake Circle Apt. #104, was possibly involved in the carjacking.

The car was recovered at his apartment complex on Nov. 21.

A fingerprint found on the car matched with Secchiaroli, reports say.

Deputies spoke with Secchiaroli on Thursday afternoon at the Naples Jail Center, where was being held on unrelated charges.

Secchiaroli was charged with unarmed carjacking.
