Stolen Air Nailer Leads to Chase

CCSO deputies pulled over a man and woman they believe stole an air nailer and sold it to a Golden Gate pawnshop Tuesday afternoon.

William Tost of 507 Copeland Ave. reported that the air nailer and a generator were stolen by Aaron Tost, 23, of 4450 32nd Ave. S.W., and Kelly Loratto, 20, of the same address, while he was away on vacation in October 2007.

Deputies learned that the air nailer was taken to Capital Pawn in Golden Gate for $45 on Oct. 22, 2007.

Investigators spotted Tost and Loratto driving on Immokalee Road near Platt Road and tried to pull them over Tuesday afternoon. Tost refused to pull over and led deputies on a chase until he hit a dead end on Rabbit Run Road.

Tost took off running into a nearby wooded area but deputies were able to catch him.

Tost was charged with resisting a law enforcement officer without violence, driving with a suspended license, grand theft from a home, dealing in stolen property, failure to appear for a felony charge and three counts of violation of state probation.

Loratto was charged with defrauding a pawnbroker and permitting an unauthorized person to drive.
