Woman Attempts Robbery Outside Bank

DATE: Monday, Dec. 10, 2007

TIME: 7:15 a.m.

LOCATION: Fifth Third Bank, 7595 Vanderbilt Beach Road

Deputies are investigating an attempted robbery at a Golden Gate bank Monday morning.

Deputies give this account:

The bank manager was unlocking the door to the building when she was approached by a woman holding a gun.

The woman told the manager not to move, but the manager was able to quickly enter the bank and lock the doors.

The manager is unsure how the woman took off, but heard a car speeding away shortly after.

The woman is described as Hispanic, standing 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing 130 to150 pounds. She wore a mask over her head and was wearing turquoise pants and a black top.
