Deputies: Woman Cashed Counterfeit Checks

Deputies say that a Miami woman tried to cash counterfeit checks at Immokalee businesses.

Sabrina Eccleston, 28, was located on Dec. 24, 2007, and charged with uttering a counterfeit instrument and grand theft.

Reports say that on Dec. 8, 2006, deputies learned that Eccleston tried to cash a counterfeit check at Primo Supermarket, 306 New Market Road. No arrest was made at the time because the victim could not be contacted.

Deputies later learned the account number on the check had been stolen from Crumb Financial, a payroll company in Tampa, and that counterfeit checks were being cashed throughout Florida, reports said.

Three more checks were cashed at Fred’s Drive Thru, 110 1st St. N., reports said.
