Man Leads Deputies On Foot Chase, Drugs Found

An Immokalee man faces multiple charges after fleeing deputies Tuesday afternoon.

Robert Jackson, 23, 805 Palm Ridge Dr., was charged with driving with a suspended license, leaving the scene of a crash that damaged property, possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana and resisting a law enforcement officer without violence.

Deputies saw Jackson back out of his driveway in a blue Hyundai. Knowing his license was suspended, they tried to pull him over.

As deputies accelerated to catch up with him they saw the Hyundai hit a mail box on the 600 block of Palm Ridge Drive, knocking over its post and breaking the box.

At that point Jackson stopped, got out of the car and ran. Deputies followed him on foot into a nearby yard.

Deputies ordered Jackson to stop, but he continued, jumping a fence into a yard on Breezewood Drive. According to reports, he appeared to be trying to remove items from his pockets as he was running.

He then jumped over another fence into a yard and tried to enter a home. Deputies apprehended him there.

Investigators searched him but found no drugs. Reports say that, while retracing the path of the foot chase, a sandwich bag containing marijuana and a cigar tube containing about 30 pieces of cocaine were found.
