Deputies: Burglar Offers Slithery Excuse

A North Naples woman awoke from an afternoon nap Monday to find a strange man in her bedroom who said he was there looking for a snake that slithered into her house.

But the woman didn’t buy Abraham Santos’ excuse and alerted deputies.

Deputies arrested Santos, 30, 311 S. 6th St. #3, Immokalee, and charged him with burglary.

Reports gave this account:

Ivette M. Maury, 44, 300 Forest Lakes Blvd., told deputies she was asleep in her bedroom shortly before noon when she awoke to her TV set being turned on and Santos standing in her bedroom.

Santos told her that he found a small snake on her lanai and he thought it might have crawled into her house.

He apologized and left.

Deputies located Santos a short time later at the clubhouse of Maury’s development, where he was doing landscaping work.
