An East Naples woman was arrested Wednesday after deputies say she passed a bad check at the Mi Ranchito store in Immokalee.Elyethe Sequeira, 31, 4027 Enterprise Ave., was charged with grand theft and uttering a counterfeit instrument.
Reports say Sequeira presented a check for $2,956.24 to Luis Trejo, the owner of Mi Ranchito. Trejo cashed the check, but then became suspicious that it was fake. He followed the black Lincoln SUV Sequeira got into when she left the store. When it stopped at La Mexicana #2, 217 N. 15th Street, he flagged down a deputy and asked for help.
After examining the check and determining it to be counterfeit the deputy approached the Lincoln. In addition to Sequeira, there were six other people in the car. Sequeira was arrested and the money was recovered.
