Elizabeth Meehan, 29, 6066 Adkins Ave., East Naples, was arrested Thursday and charged with grand theft, dealing in stolen property and defrauding a pawnbroker.
Arrest reports say a search of local pawn receipts by deputies with the sheriff’s pawn unit turned up a 2002 St. John Neumann High School class ring that further investigation revealed had been stolen.
The investigation also showed the ring, which had “Samantha” engraved in it, had been sold to Capital Pawn Super Store, 1933 Davis Blvd., East Naples. Pawn transaction forms showed Meehan sold the ring to the store, reports said.
Deputies traced the ring to a 25-year-old East Naples woman. Samantha Lawton told deputies Meehan had worked for her as a maid from Sept. 7 to Nov. 11 and had a key to her residence, reports said.
Lawton told deputies that she had noticed the ring was missing, but thought it may have been misplaced, reports said. She said she did not give Meehan permission to take the ring, reports said.
