Deputies arrested a man Monday after they say he stole a car that was parked for sale in East Naples and then sold it to a recycling company.
James Buster Wright, 39, who arrest reports say is homeless, was charged with grand theft auto.
Arrest reports say Moises Castillo told deputies that he had parked his 1997 Jeep on Holland Street in East Naples with a “For Sale” sign on it. Castillo was returning home from work on May 21 when he saw the Jeep traveling on the back of a black trailer being towed by a white Chevrolet pickup driven by Wright, reports said.
On Monday, Castillo saw the white pickup in his neighborhood and confronted Wright about his Jeep, reports said. Wright told Castillo he bought the Jeep from “some guy,” reports said.
Castillo called deputies, reports said. An investigation revealed Wright sold the Jeep to a scrap recycling company in Fort Myers for $400, reports said.
