A Bonita Springs man was charged Wednesday after deputies say he embezzled more than $36,000 from his North Naples employer.
Ford Sayre, 49, 8950 Collonades Court, was charged with scheme to defraud.
Reports say while Sayre was working as a building maintenance supervisor for Gulfshore Associates, 801 Laurel Oak Drive, his duties included collecting monthly rent checks from tenants and depositing them into an account at SunTrust Bank. He was not authorized to write checks or make withdrawals from the account. Sayre was an authorized signer on a separate petty cash account that was established for small purchases.
Gulfshore Associates notified CCSO after discovering that Sayre had been depositing some tenant rent checks into the petty cash account. It was also discovered that Sayre had opened two credit card accounts using Gulfshore Associates’ information, reports said.
Investigators documented a total of $36,707 that Sayre obtained for personal use between November 2007 and April 2008.
