CCSO has the following tips to help you stay safe on the water:
* Always have a designated boat operator who is not consuming alcohol. It is unlawful to have a blood alcohol level above 0.08 while operating a boat.
* Make sure you have enough life jackets for everyone on board.
* Know and follow all Florida boating laws.
* Always watch out for swimmers who may be near your boat.
* Tell someone ashore where you’ll be boating and when you plan to return.
* Test lights and other safety equipment before pulling away from the dock.
