Drag Racing Arrest

A 23-year-old man who was drag racing in North Naples on Sunday is facing felony charges after deputies say he led them on a high-speed pursuit and forced several cars off the road, sheriff’s reports said.

Marvin L. Juarez, 3720 20th Ave. N.E., Golden Gate Estates, was charged with fleeing and eluding law enforcement and racing on a public road.

Arrest reports say Juarez and another driver were racing along northbound Livingston Road around 6:30 p.m. A deputy in a patrol car activated his emergency lights and sirens in attempt to stop the two cars.

The cars separated at the intersection of Livingston and Vanderbilt Beach Road, with Juarez continuing east on Vanderbilt, nearly striking several cars with his vehicle, reports said.

The deputy engaged in a pursuit of Juarez’s vehicle, which was traveling at an estimated speed of 90 mph in a 35 mph zone, reports said. Juarez passed other eastbound vehicles, crossing over the double yellow no passing line, reports said.

Juarez drove through a red light at the intersection of Vanderbilt and Wilshire Lakes Drive, reports said. He turned north onto Logan Boulevard, continuing at an estimated speed of 100 mph, reports said.

While on Logan Juarez forced five vehicles off the road, reports said. The chase continued north to Immokalee Road, where Juarez made a sudden stop and was arrested, reports said
