A North Naples woman was arrested Monday after deputies say she stole nearly $600 worth of video games and other items from an East Naples Wal-Mart.
Kelley Hill, 24, 620 106th Ave. North, was charged with grand theft and resisting property recovery from a retail merchant.
Arrest reports give this account of what happened:
Wal-Mart’s loss prevention officer at the 9885 Collier Boulevard store saw Hill placing store merchandise in her pink purse. When he confronted her she walked away and attempted to leave the store. The loss prevention officer tried to keep her in the store by taking hold of her, but Hill broke away and ran out of the store. She got into the back seat of a waiting black Chrysler and left after dropping her purse in the parking lot.
A deputy spotted the car and stopped it in the parking lot of Naples Lakes Shopping Center on Rattlesnake-Hammock Road.
The loss prevention officer arrived at the scene and identified Hill as the person who had taken the items from the store.
Three other occupants of the Chrysler denied knowledge of the incident and were not charged.
Items recovered from Hill’s purse include 19 Nintendo Wii games, five PlayStation 3 games, 1 Xbox game, three miscellaneous video games, one Crest teeth whitening kit, two nose ring sets and a pair of tweezers. The merchandise had a combined value of $588.83.
