Deputies Investigating Jewelry Store Break-In

WHAT: Burglary

WHEN: Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2008

TIME: 8:19 a.m.

WHERE: Maria Jewelry Sales, 4973 Golden Gate Parkway, Golden Gate

SUMMARY: Deputies say a thief or thieves entered the store after smashing the front door, apparently with a rock.

Two display cases were smashed open and another case was damaged, deputies said. Items such as watches were removed.

Deputies called the break-in an isolated incident and not an act of looting during Tropical Storm Fay. No other stores in the strip mall where the jewelry store is located were reported broken into, deputies said.
