Kenneth Nesmith, 45, of Lehigh Acres was charged with grand theft.
Arrest reports say Nesmith stole five laptops totaling $2,946 from Wal-Mart Supercenter, 11225 U.S. 41 N., on Jan. 8.
Nesmith removed the laptops from a display case and then left the store without paying for the merchandise, reports said. He exited the store through a fire door around 8:11 a.m., causing the security alarm to sound, reports said. He then loaded the laptops into a car and drove away, reports said.
Deputies identified Nesmith as the suspect through store surveillance video and fingerprints obtained at the scene, reports said.
