Here's the second tip of our seven-day Back To School Safety Countdown; please discuss this tip with your child:
If you walk to school make sure you're aware of your surroundings And walk in groups. If a stranger approaches you scream, run and tell an adult what happened.
Parents should walk the route with their child at the beginning of the year to familiarize them with it.
Also, look for CCSO banners reminding everyone that school starts Aug. 19. The banners are at the Collier County Government Center, Pelican Marsh Elementary School, Big Cypress Elementary School, Shadowlawn Elementary School, and Corkscrew Elementary School.
CCSO community service deputies' trucks are also carring the countdown message.
