3 Arrested In EN Car Burglary Spree

Three men are facing multiple felony charges after deputies say they broke into dozens of cars at apartment complexes in East Naples, stealing items ranging from cell phones to stereos to wallets.

Investigators say all of the burglaries occurred in September and all of the cars were unlocked.

David J. Boisvert, 22, 1925 Davis Blvd., East Naples; Shaun Robert Waltz, 21, whose street address in Bonita Springs was not listed on arrest reports; and Steven Paul Frana, 25, 740 Augusta Blvd., East Naples, were arrested Saturday after they were driving around in a gray Honda in East Naples around 11:30 p.m., drawing the suspicions of deputies. Investigators say the three men were looking to steal a car tire.

Deputies followed the Honda to the parking lot at the Red Roof Inn, where Boisvert, Waltz and Frana were staying. Deputies conducted a traffic stop and received permission to search the Honda, reports said.

The search turned up property that had been reported stolen from vehicles, such as radar detectors, MP3 players, global positioning systems, stereos, radios, cell phones and wallets, investigators said.

A search of the hotel room turned up more stolen property. A search of Waltz’s residence in Bonita turned up even more stolen property, investigators said.

Investigators said the three men drove around apartment complexes looking for unlocked cars that they could gain easy access to.

Boisvert was charged with four counts of grand theft, five counts of vehicle burglary, two counts of petty theft and one count of loitering and prowling. He was being held in the Collier County jail on $48,000 bond.

Frana was charged with four counts of grand theft, five counts of vehicle burglary, two counts of petty theft, one count of loitering and prowling and one count of possession of marijuana under 20 grams. He was being held on $49,000 bond.

Waltz was charged with five counts of grand theft, five counts of vehicle burglary, two counts of petty theft, possession of marijuana under 20 grams, possession of narcotics paraphernalia and loitering and prowling. He was being held on $66,500 bond.

Boisvert, Frana and Waltz are facing additional charges of burglary and grand theft in connection with a car break-in in North Naples. Investigators say the three stole a wallet and credit cards from inside a car parked at an apartment complex at Emerald Lakes on Sept. 16.

Waltz is also charged with stealing a boat from an East Naples marina and then crashing it into a channel marker in Naples Bay. Investigators say Waltz stole a 22-foot Grady White from a slip at Brookside Marina, 2025 Davis Blvd., on Sept. 19. The vessel was recovered the next day in some mangroves near channel marker 20 with damage to its right front.
