Deputies: AC Theft Wasn't Cool

A man was arrested Tuesday evening after deputies say they saw him steal air-conditioning equipment from a North Naples business.

Yunior Bautista Rodriguez, 24, 6 Royal Cove Drive, North Naples, was charged with grand theft.

Reports give this account:

The owner of Florida Cool Inc., 1085 Business Lane, told deputies someone had been stealing air-conditioning units and equipment from behind the business. He set up video surveillance and saw footage of a two-tone truck pulling up behind the business. The driver got out and loaded several pieces of company property into the vehicle before driving away. In addition, an employee saw the truck’s license plate number during one of the thefts. The owner told deputies all of the thefts happened between 6 and 7:30 p.m.

On Tuesday evening deputies set up surveillance on the building. At 6:45 p.m. they saw a two-tone truck pull up. The driver and a female passenger loaded several items into the bed of the truck and then drove away.

Deputies followed the truck and conducted a traffic stop in a parking lot at 12300 U.S. 41 North. Rodriguez was driving. A woman and an infant were also in the truck. In the bed was an air-conditioning coil, a condenser, an air handler, a fan blade and a fan blower. The items had a combined value of $310.
