Deputies: Arrest Warrant Secured For Cop Impersonator

Deputies have obtained an arrest warrant in connection with a February abduction by a man impersonating a law enforcement officer in East Naples.

Steven Wayne McIntyre, also known as Steven Milam, 28, 8054 Pacific Beach Drive, Fort Myers, is currently in the Wayne County Jail in Michigan on charges in a similar case. Under the Collier County warrant he will be charged with kidnapping, impersonating a law enforcement officer and battery.

Investigators say the break in the case came in mid-September, when a member of McIntyre’s family contacted them, told them about the Michigan arrest and said she suspected him of the February abduction. She said she believed McIntyre matched the composite released in that case and his car, a 1993 Mercury Grand Marquis, matched the description of the vehicle used in the East Naples abduction.

In the Collier County case a man approached Anna Bruwer, 23, as she was walking along Manatee Road on her way home from work at 10:15 p.m. The man told her he was a police officer, displayed an oval badge and told her she matched the description of a burglary suspect. He ordered her into his car, a white, older model four-door sedan, then drove around with her for a little more than an hour before releasing her unharmed at Santa Barbara Square in East Naples.

Deputies say Bruwer has identified McIntyre as the man who abducted her.
