Deputies: Man Used Car As A Weapon

A 67-year-old man was arrested Wednesday after deputies say he intentionally struck another man with his car in East Naples.

Robert George Blascoe, 42 Lake Diane Drive, East Naples, was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

Arrest reports say Timothy Austin, 42, told deputies that he was in front of his house at 3048 Van Buren Avenue when he saw Blascoe drive by. Austin told deputies that he and Blascoe have been arguing recently over Austin’s estranged wife, whom Blascoe is currently dating, reports said.

Blascoe turned his car around and headed back toward Austin. Austin said he walked out into the road and waved his hands in the air because he wanted to talk to Blascoe, reports said.

Blascoe accelerated and drove his car directly at Austin, striking Austin, reports said. Blascoe drove away without stopping to see if Austin was injured, reports said.

Reports said Austin received a laceration to his left elbow after being struck by Blascoe’s vehicle and refused to go to the hospital.
