Man Charged With Throwing Brick Into Car Carrying Child

Deputies arrested a 29-year-old man Sunday after they say he threw a brick into a car that was carrying a woman and her 4-year-old son in Immokalee.

Manuel Luna, 1408 Avocado St., Immokalee, was charged with shooting a deadly missile into a vehicle, a felony. He was also charged with criminal mischief and battery, both misdemeanors.

Arrest reports say Maria Soto told deputies that Luna threw a brick into her vehicle as she drove down Avocado Street after 3 a.m. Sunday. Soto told deputies that her 4-year-old son was inside the vehicle with her at the time, reports said.

Deputies were responding to a report of a fight involving several people, including Luna, on Avocado Street. Motorists told deputies that they were approached by several people who came at them with baseball bats and pipes and who threw beer bottles at their cars, reports said.

The brick thrown by Luna caused “major damage” to Soto’s vehicle, reports said.
