Slow Driver Leads Deputy To Stolen Car

A driver who was traveling very slowly down an Immokalee street speeded up his own arrest Tuesday after a deputy got suspicious and discovered the man was driving a stolen car, sheriff's reports said.

Filaberto Lopez, 21, 1475 15th St. N., Immokalee, was charged with grand theft auto.

Arrest reports say the deputy spotted a gold Jeep Cherokee with an Oregon license plate traveling very slowly on West Main Street near 1st Street around 4:50 p.m.

The deputy said the driver, Lopez, appeared to be very nervous, reports said.

Further investigation by the deputy revealed that the Cherokee had been reported stolen out of Oregon.
