WHEN: 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 25

SYNOPSIS: Registrations and sponsorships are being accepted for the third annual Police Unity Tour Golf Tournament.

Early registration is $85 per person, which includes lunch. Registration increases to $100 per person on Oct. 1.

The tournament is a four-player scramble format. Hole sponsorships with the name of the business or individual on the hole sign are $100. Cart sponsorships with the business logo on each golf cart are $500.

Proceeds from the tournament support the Police Unity Tour, a 250-mile bicycle trip that carries the slogan "We ride for those who died."

The Police Unity Tour takes participants on a three-day journey each spring that ends with a candlelight vigil at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C. Five Collier County Sheriff's Office members took part in the 2008 Police Unity Tour.

The purpose of the Police Unity Tour is twofold: to honor and remember officers who have died in the line of duty and to raise money for both the memorial and the National Law Enforcement Museum.

Since 1997 the Police Unity Tour has raised more than $5 million for the National Law Enforcement Officer's Memorial Fund.
