WHAT: International Walk To School Day

WHERE: Parkside Elementary School, 5322 Texas Ave., East Naples
SUMMARY: Collier County sheriff’s deputies will join schools around the world to celebrate International Walk to School Day.
Hundreds of Collier County elementary school students are expected to walk to school, along with parents, teachers and community leaders.
Deputies will be handing out backpacks filled with goodies to walkers at Parkside Elementary from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.
The annual Walk To School event works to create safer routes for walking and bicycling and to emphasize the importance of issues such as increasing physical activity among children, pedestrian, traffic congestion, concern for the environment and building connections between families, schools and the community.
