Grand Theft Auto Arrest

A 61-year-old man is facing felony charges after he stole another man’s pickup that was parked outside an East Naples bar and then led deputies on a brief pursuit, sheriff’s reports said.

Eldon Brown, 2001 Airport-Pulling Road, East Naples was arrested shortly before 1 a.m. Tuesday and charged with grand theft auto, fleeing and eluding and driving without a valid license.

Arrest reports say Robert Buczko told deputies that Brown stole Buckzo’s keys from the bar while they were drinking at the Captain’s Cabin Bar and Grille, 3380 Mercantile Ave., around 12:52 a.m.

Brown then walked outside, got into Buczko’s 2007 Toyota Tundra pickup and drove away.

Deputies spotted the pickup at 12:58 a.m., heading north on Airport-Pulling Road near Citrus Lake Drive with its headlights off and weaving in traffic, reports said.

Deputies activated the lights and sirens on their patrol car in an attempted to pull the pickup over, but Brown failed to stop.

Deputies pursued the pickup, which was traveling around 40 mph to 50 mph, north on Airport-Pulling Road until Brown stopped the vehicle at the intersection of Immokalee Road, where he was arrested.
