Traffic Stop Turns Up Drugs, Arrests

A traffic stop on Interstate 75 in Golden Gate led to the arrests of two men on felony drug charges Thursday after deputies say they found crack cocaine and marijuana in the car.

Nixon Joseph, 22, and Fritzco Desir, 21, both of Fort Myers were each charged with possession of cocaine, possession of cocaine with intent to sell and possession of marijuana.

Arrest reports say deputies conducted a traffic stop on a gold Oldsmobile passenger car driven by Joseph near the 98 mile marker of I-75 around 2:30 p.m. Joseph was issued a warning for illegal window tint and improper display of a validation sticker, reports said.

While deputies were issuing the written warnings, a K-9 and his handler conducted an exterior examination of the car and alerted deputies to the passenger side door, reports said.

A search of the car turned up 100 pieces of crack cocaine hidden in the passenger side of the door, reports said. The crack cocaine had an estimated street value of $2,000 and was inside three plastic bags packaged for sale or delivery, reports said.

Deputies also found nearly 10 grams of marijuana hidden in the driver side door, reports said.
