2 Men Charged With Armed Robbery In Immokalee

Two men were arrested on felony charges in connection with three separate robbery attempts in Immokalee on Sunday.

Juan Carlos Espinosa, 19, 211 S. 9th St., and Cesar Cortez, 25, 1201 S. 9th St., both in Immokalee, were each charged with armed robbery.

Arrest reports say Espinosa and Cortez approached each of the victims and demanded money, telling them they would be beaten if they refused.

One of the victims told deputies that Perez struck him in the back of the head with a beer bottle, while Cortez beat him repeatedly with a belt after he refused to give them money, reports said.

Cortez was additionally charged with cocaine possession after deputies found a small bag of cocaine in one of his pockets while he was being booked into the jail, reports said.
