Man Charged In Golden Gate Break-In

A 24-year-old man was arrested on burglary charges Monday after deputies say he called the Golden Gate homeowner who interrupted the break-in.

Christopher James Hamler, 4051 Coconut Circle, East Naples, was arrested and charged with burglary of an occupied dwelling.

Arrest reports say Sarajo Irizarry told deputies that she was at home at 2820 53rd St. S.W., Unit 2A11, around 11:45 a.m. when she heard noise coming from the kitchen. She went to the kitchen, where she saw Hamler attempting to climb in through the window over the sink, according to reports.

Irizarry told deputies she yelled to Hamler, whom she described as a friend of her husband, and told him she was going to call authorities, reports said. Hamler then ran away, reports said.

Hamler broke glassware and pottery that were on the inside windowsill as he tried to enter the residence, reports said.

Irizarry told deputies that Hamler telephoned her a short time later and told her went to residence to get two generators that belonged to him and that she could not prove that he was breaking into her home, reports said.
