Deputies: Man Pawned Stolen Items

A 32-year-old man is facing multiple felony charges after deputies say he broke into an East Naples apartment in December, stole jewelry, electronics, video games and other items and then pawned them, sheriff’s reports said.

Eddie Nelson Nieves-Tanon, 1400 Fifth Ave. N., Apt. B4, Naples, was arrested Tuesday and charged with burglary, grand theft, dealing in stolen property and defrauding a pawn broker.

Arrest reports say Nieves-Tanon broke into an apartment at 4520 Botanical Place Circle on Dec. 4 and stole a Sony PlayStation 3, PlayStation 3 video games, $50 in coins, a silver bracelet and a gold pendant and chain from Michael Maker.

Further investigation by deputies revealed Nieves-Tanon pawned the items at two East Naples pawn shops on Dec. 4, reports said.

Deputies also learned that there was an active warrant out of Collier County for Nieves-Tanon’s arrest for failing to appear at a court hearing on a previous grand theft charge.

Deputies located Nieves-Tanon at his apartment, where a search by deputies turned up drugs and narcotic paraphernalia inside his bedroom closet, reports said. He was additionally charged with possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana and possession of narcotic equipment as well as with the warrant.
