Deputies: Saleswoman Gave Away Merchandise

An East Naples department store saleswoman is facing a felony theft charge after deputies say she rang up fake returns and gave away merchandise.

Arrest reports say sales employee Rebeca Yzquierdo-Suarez, 32, stole merchandise totaling $1,496. 69 from Beall’s, 3701 U.S. 41 E., from Dec. 10, 2008, to Jan. 15.

A store loss prevention officer told deputies that store surveillance video shows Yzquierdo-Suarez ringing up merchandise for unknown customers and then placing additional items that had not been paid for into their bags, reports said.

Store surveillance video also shows Yzquierdo-Suarez taking merchandise, ringing the items into her register as a return and then placing the return amount onto a store merchandise card, reports said.

Deputies arrested Yzquierdo-Suarez, 190 Palm Drive, Unit 1, East Naples, on Wednesday and charged her with grand theft.
