Deputies Seek Man Who Threatened Law Enforcement

Deputies are looking for a man who has made threats against law enforcement and are asking the public to report anything that may seem suspicious such as packages or devices.

CCSO deputies were notified by other law enforcement agencies shortly before 3 p.m. Friday that the man was headed to Collier County. The man made suicidal statements and indicated he may be heavily armed.

The man, whose identity has not been confirmed, has made contact with CCSO dispatchers. His most recent contact with deputies was around 10:15 p.m., at which time he claimed to have placed “bombs” at two major fueling stations and government locations that include law enforcement offices.

The man did not disclose specific locations, but the target of his threats appears to be law enforcement. He has not made any threats against the general public, investigators said.

Deputies are working through the night to verify the validity of his claims. So far, deputies have not found any evidence to validate his claims.

Anyone with information or who sees any activity or packages or devices that seem suspicious is asked to call CCSO at 793-9300, or if you wish to remain anonymous call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477).

No further information is available. Updates will be posted as they become available.
