Traffic Stop Turns Up Loaded Gun

A 28-year-old man is facing a felony weapon charge after deputies say they found a loaded gun in his pickup during a traffic stop in North Naples on Sunday.

Deputies stopped Nicholas Joel Garza around 10:30 p.m. after they say he ran a red light at the intersection of Pine Ridge and Airport-Pulling Road, according to arrest reports.

A search of Garza’s black Nissan pickup by deputies turned up a .40 caliber Kahr semiautomatic handgun inside the driver’s side door pocket, reports said. The gun was loaded with a round in the chamber.

Further investigation by deputies revealed Garza did not have a permit for the gun, reports said.
Garza, 587 109th Ave. N., Naples Park, was arrested and charged with carrying a concealed firearm.
