A 19-year-old man is facing felony charges after deputies say he threw rocks at passing cars in Golden Gate Estates on Sunday night.

William R. Rans, 770 Pioneer Road, Golden Gate Estates, was charged with shooting a missile into a vehicle.

Arrest reports say a 19-year-old woman told deputies she was driving east on 43rd Avenue Northeast near Everglades Boulevard on her way to her boyfriend’s house when Rans, who was standing on the side of the road, threw a rock at her car. The rock struck the hood of the woman’s car, causing a dent.

The woman left her boyfriend’s house later and was heading west on 43rd Avenue Northeast when she was confronted by Rans again, reports said. Rans punched her car and attempted to jump on the back of the car, reports said.

A 19-year-old man also told deputies that he was driving east on 43rd Avenue Northeast near Everglades Boulevard on Sunday night when Rans threw a rock at his car, damaging the front grille.

Deputies located Rans in the 3200 block of 43rd Avenue Northeast and arrested him. Rans is also charged with criminal mischief.
