Deputies: Man Pushed Stroller Into Traffic

A man was arrested on multiple felony charges after deputies say he attacked a couple walking with their children in Immokalee over the weekend.

Lucila Pere-Roblero and Eusebio Avila-Cortezano were pushing their two children in a stroller on North 3rd Street on Saturday morning when they were approached by Modesto Mendoza, 50, 209 N. 3rd St., Immokalee, according to sheriff's reports.

Mendoza was holding a chain and told Eusebio that he owed him $20. He then attacked the couple with the chain, reports said.

During the fight, Mendoza grabbed the stroller with the children inside and pushed it onto the street. A black truck came within 4 to 5 feet of hitting the stroller, reports said.

Mendoza took off walking and was located by deputies at his home.

Mendoza was charged with aggravated battery, three counts of aggravated assault and three counts of battery.
